OUR PLASTIC PLANET

BEAUTY FROM WHAT WE WOULD RATHER NOT SEE.

We've built a world wrapped in plastic. Convenient. Ubiquitous. Invisible, until it's not.

Then it washes up on shorelines. Tangles in seaweed. Photodegrades into microparticles that never truly disappear. The material that promised permanence delivered on that promise in ways we didn't anticipate.

This collection transforms discarded plastic found on beaches into unexpected compositions, abstract, colourful, sometimes beautiful in ways that make you uncomfortable. Because that's the point. We've created a material that outlasts us, and these images ask: what are we leaving behind?

This is environmental commentary through an aesthetic lens. Art that makes you think while it completes your wall.

THE AESTHETIC

Surprisingly colourful. Textural. Abstract yet grounded in uncomfortable reality.

These compositions isolate plastic debris against sand, arrange found objects by colour, and capture the intersection of natural and synthetic. Vibrant blues, weathered yellows, sun-bleached whites, brilliant oranges, plastic's synthetic colours become almost jewel-like when photographed with intention.

The visual language walks a careful line: beautiful enough to want on your wall, unsettling enough to make you think about what you're looking at.

Color palette: Vivid, saturated, synthetic. The artificial brightness of plastic against organic beach tones. Blues from bottle caps, reds from fragments, yellows from degraded containers. Occasionally, natural tones of sand and driftwood provide context and contrast.

Composition: Some pieces are tight abstracts, colour fields made from collected debris. Others include environmental context, plastic against pristine sand, and synthetic colours interrupting natural landscapes. All are carefully composed to be aesthetically compelling while carrying weight.

Tone: Contemplative, thought-provoking, meaningful. There's beauty here, but it's complicated beauty. Art with a message that doesn't hit you over the head with it.
